The design team at peacock in 2023 was still relatively small and design systems amounted to no more than a kitchen sink of known reusable components. These were maintained by anyone who had time in addition to their feature work. As the platform grew so did our need for a dedicated design system team and reliable resources both in and outside of Figma.
In the spirit of collaborating with non-designers our Atlas home base is a confluence page detailing dev and design ops topics to visual standards for iconography and components.
As the most technical team of designers we host workshops and meetings that provide the larger design team with updates on tips, tricks, system updates and announcements that will directly effect their work.
The design system grows as new and updated features are published. We implemented a workflow to allow designers to contribute their work to the design system. This involves consultation with the design team in early stages and a bespoke approach to verifying compliance with design system standards.
